This year, our annual Awareness Day will be held on Saturday 9th June on the Council Green from 10.30am until 1.30pm.

Last year we had a very successful day. The weather was beautiful and record crowds came to see the varied and diverse groups and organisations on display.

This year we have again over forty local organisations participating with a wide range of subjects. There is something for everyone whether you want to start a new hobby, learn a new skill or just support a worthwhile cause.

Do come and enjoy a pleasant Saturday morning ambling round the stalls with a cup of tea and cake from the Trefoil Guild while listening to the Jazz band.

The Beaconsfield Society stall will be at the front of the Green. Do come and visit us.

This year we are having a suggestion box for you to make known to the Committee those issues which most concern you, so please come and use it.

AWARENESS DAY   2 0 0 6

Last year’s Awareness Day was held on Saturday 10th June. It proved to be a successful and happy day.

The weather was beautiful as a record number of people flocked to The Council Green to ambulate round the forty stalls of local organisations on display.

There was a huge variety to choose from. For the very young there was a bouncy castle and a treasure hunt from the Twinning Association who were celebrating their 10th anniversary. The University of the Third Age provided interest for the more mature and, for everyone in between, there were the Scouts, The Library, Bucks Search and Rescue, Friends of Holtspur Bank, The Beacon Centre  - and much more...........

Many Charities, such as Abbeyfield, The Lions, Sign and Cancer Research also participated and attracted great interest.

The Trefoil Guild provided endless cups of tea and cake for people to enjoy while watching the dancing by The English Folk Dancing and Song Society and tapping their feet to the music of The 3rd Age Jazz and Soul Purpose.

Our local MP Dominic Grieve strolled around chatting to the volunteers and the Beaconsfield Mayor joined in the country dancing with gusto.

Dick Smith, the Town Crier, resplendent as usual, opened and closed our very successful 14th Awareness Day.

"Thank you " to all who took part for your hard work in setting up and dismantling. May I say, on behalf of The Beaconsfields Society, that your contribution to an excellent day was truly appreciated. In addition, we would like to thank our visitors and hope that you will join us again in the summer of 2007 !
