Beaconsfield Now 6 May 2017 11am to 2 pm : Beaconsfield Rugby Club

For more than twenty years the Beaconsfield Society has run an annual event bringing together local charities and not-for- profit organisations in order to showcase their work and recruit members and volunteers. It is designed to attract all age groups.  Up to now, it has been held on the Town Hall Green but this year The Rugby Club has  agreed to join with us to provide a venue, some entertainment, and better facilities and parking. We hope you will be able to join us to make 2017 a success.

We usually have a bouncy castle or the like plus other amusements for the young children. The Fire Brigade bring a tender and allow the older kids to go on board while St John’s Ambulance generally bring ‘Annie’ so they can practice resuscitation. Other entertainment is provided by children from both primary and secondary schools in the town. The Scouts and Guides provide refreshments.

Locals of all ages are catered for by our various organisations. Education, Sports, Theatre, Amenity groups and Charities are represented.

We usually have a local ‘celebrity’ to open the event alongside the Mayor and our inimitable Town Crier, Dick Smith. Our local MP tries to attend and we ensure a strong presence of the local media.

Last year 2016 the Town Council Green was full of participants under a marquee and a few gazebos. Tables were provided. The set up was greatly appreciated but space was limited and parking still an issue. Recent feedback from stallholders has supported our idea to move to a new venue and to hold the event sooner in the year as a trial for one year.
